Buying furniture, in the right order
Measuring comes before fabric or price, because a piece that won't pass the door is the wrong one at any price. The first guides are about measuring the room and the way in, what a warranty covers and what happens on delivery day. Others explain deposits and exchanges, and why a floor model can look different at home.

Short answers, and the guide behind each
What does a furniture warranty actually cover?
Each maker sets its own terms, often part by part. La-Z-Boy's US warranty page gives wood frame parts lifetime cover, while most of our Ashley recliner pages give the whole chair one year. No maker's warranty covers accidental stains, rips, tears, cuts or burns. Merit backs the maker's warranty, orders the parts and looks after the repair. SmartOne from Zucora, a Canadian company, can stretch cover to five years after purchase, and it sends a repair person to your home. The details are in furniture warranties explained.
Can I return furniture?
The invoice says all sales are final. In practice we encourage exchanges for up to 30 days, and returns are looked at case by case. Special orders need a 24% deposit when you place them, and refunds go back to your card or another way you prefer. The rest sits in returns, exchanges and deposits.
