Canadian-made furniture, maker by maker
Two furniture makers we list say they build in Canada: Decor-Rest, in Woodbridge, Ontario, and Island Living, whose made-to-order sofas, chairs and beds come from Burnaby, BC. We also count Beaudoin, a Quebec bed maker, as Canadian-made, on our own confirmation. Island Living's in-stock range is made overseas, and Mako, a Surrey company, doesn't say on its site where it builds. Which pieces qualify, what a Made in Canada label means, and how long a made-to-order piece takes are the questions these guides answer.

Where to start
Each one carries its own numbers and says where they come from.

Short answers, and the guide behind each
Which furniture brands are actually made in Canada?
Decor-Rest builds in Woodbridge, Ontario, and Island Living builds its made-to-order line in Burnaby, by each maker's own account. Beaudoin's Quebec beds count too, by our confirmation as owners. Ashley's own site names US and Vietnamese manufacturing centres, and La-Z-Boy's names US and Mexican plants. Mako's own site gives Surrey as its office and doesn't say where it builds. Each maker, with its town and prices, is in Canadian made furniture on Vancouver Island.
How long does a made-to-order sofa take?
A Decor-Rest or Mako order takes 8 to 10 weeks to be ready for pickup or delivery. A made-to-order Island Living sofa takes 6 to 8, or 2 to 3 when Island Living has it in Vancouver. When an order runs behind, we lend you furniture free in the meantime and usually offer a discount to carry on. How a special order runs, deposit included, is in how made-to-order works.
