Merit Home Furniture's Campbell River store is at 1300 A Homewood Rd, Campbell River, BC V9W 3N7, in the Campbellton part of town. It sells furniture, mattresses and appliances, and it's the Merit showroom for the North Island and, since our Courtenay store closed, for Courtenay and Comox too.

The store opened in 1987, three years after my grandfather bought the Nanaimo shop that started the Merit name. I write from our Duncan store, 205 km down the Island by road, where my husband Michael and I work.
No-pressure selling is a strict rule in our family's stores. On Homewood Road, an hour spent sitting and comparing that ends with nothing bought is an ordinary visit, and nobody trails you from one sofa to the next.
Where Merit sits in Campbell River, and when it's open

Getting to Homewood Road from the North Island and the Comox Valley
Homewood Road is the closest Merit showroom for every community our family lists for the Campbell River store. That list ends, in the family's words, with hundreds of other small islands. The OSRM router measured each one over OpenStreetMap roads on September 23, 2026, from the middle of each town.
| From | Road distance |
|---|---|
| Courtenay | 52 km, on Highway 19 |
| Comox | 58 km, on Highway 19 |
| Sayward | 76 km, on Highway 19 |
| Gold River | 89 km, on Highway 28 |
| Tahsis | 155 km, on Highway 28 and then Head Bay Road |
| Zeballos | 193 km, on Highway 19 and then the Zeballos forest service road |
| Port McNeill | 197 km, on Highway 19 |
| Port Hardy | 235 km, on Highway 19 |
| Port Alice | 245 km, on Highways 19 and 30 |
| Winter Harbour | 304 km, on Highway 19 and Holberg Road, then the Northeast Main, South Main and Winter Harbour Road logging roads |
From Courtenay, our showroom on Norwell Drive in Nanaimo is about 102 km away, roughly twice the drive to Homewood Road.
Without a car, the trip from Courtenay takes four buses. The Comox Valley's route 12 runs to Oyster River for $2.75, and Campbell River's route 6 carries on to Willow Point for $3.00. From there, route 1 or 2 goes to Campbellton, and route 7 or 8 stops 120 to 140 metres from the store in a straight line.
Route 12 is the thin link. BC Transit's schedule for the week of October 5, 2026 gives it 6 trips each way on a weekday, 2 on Saturday and none on Sunday. Buying furniture in the valley since the Courtenay closing covers the rest of the Comox Valley picture.
Campbell River delivery: what's published and what to ask
Campbell River delivery is priced by the store itself, and those prices aren't on our website yet. Our website carries only the Duncan store's terms, which are $150 across the Island with assembly in the price, and delivery to some Gulf Islands, with details by phone. A coffee table on its own is too small for a Duncan delivery run. For a mattress travelling the length of the Island, Duncan may switch to another way of shipping it.
Quadra Island is one sailing from Campbell River, and Cortes is a second, from Heriot Bay on Quadra. OpenStreetMap's BC Ferries route data gives the crossings as about 10 minutes and 45 minutes. Whether a delivery goes over, and at what cost, is the store's call. Our guide to deliveries that ride a ferry goes further.
The maker sets most of the wait. An Ashley order takes 4 to 6 weeks and a mattress 2 to 3. Decor-Rest, Mako and Best take 8 to 10 weeks. Each is then ready for pickup or delivery. The factory side of that wait is set out in why a special order waits on the factory.
Deliveries south to Courtenay and Comox
Both towns are on the Campbell River store's list, so a delivered price to a Courtenay or Comox address comes from Homewood Road. Even our Duncan crew might take a larger sale as far as Comox.
Hauling away the old fridge or couch
When Duncan delivers, taking the old piece away costs $25 to $50 each as a rule, and it's sometimes thrown in. Old fridge removal is one of the topic tags Google shows on Campbell River's listing, raised in 4 reviews, and the store quotes its own haul-away fee.
Furniture prices on our website, from loveseats to lift chairs
The website is the catalogue for every Merit store, covering furniture, mattresses and appliances. On October 16, 2026, the recliner listings on our site alone numbered 172, more than any one showroom holds. For a few categories, the table gives one price listed that same day, with applicable taxes on top.
| Piece | Listed price |
|---|---|
| Loveseat | $949, the Ashley Willarae, one of the loveseats Campbell River can order |
| Sofa sleeper | $2,799, the Decor-Rest 2179, 75 inches wide with a pull-out double bed |
| Mattress | Call for our best price. Beautyrest, Sealy, Serta and Tempur-Pedic are among the mattress brands Campbell River carries |
| Canadian-made sofa | $1,599, the Decor-Rest 2705 sofa |
| UltraComfort lift chair | $2,249 for the UltraComfort Austin; the 4 listed for Campbell River run up to $3,488 |
The Best Price Guarantee works piece for piece: when the identical item is cheaper somewhere else, we refund 100% of the difference. Some mattresses carry no online price. On October 16, several Beautyrest, Tempur-Pedic and Harmony listings showed none for some or all sizes, and what goes into a quoted price has its own guide.
Dishwashers, stoves and Silhouette coolers at Merit Campbell River
Appliances lead the topic tags Google draws from the Campbell River store's reviews: dishwasher comes up in 11 reviews, stove in 4 and washer in 2.
Fridges, ranges, washers and dishwashers are now on our website. On October 6, 355 appliance listings named Campbell River as a store that sells them, 37 of them dishwashers. The appliance listings on our site gather every maker, and the store can say which pieces it has set up.
Our website lists 16 Silhouette wine coolers and beverage centres, the Silhouette Riccotta beverage centre among them. They are carried at our Campbell River and Port Alberni stores, so call for our best price. Each listing gives Campbell River's phone number, and our Silhouette page groups them.
The Silhouette Stilton in the photo is a built-in wine cooler that holds up to 63 bottles in a single zone. Campbell River quotes its best price by phone. For bottles against cans, choosing between a wine cooler and a beverage centre sets out the difference.
Who makes quality furniture in Canada, among the brands Merit lists?
Among the brands Merit lists, our family counts three makers with genuinely Canadian-made lines. Two make upholstery: Decor-Rest, and Island Living through its made-to-order Burnaby program. The third is Beaudoin, a Quebec bed maker. Decor-Rest builds in Woodbridge, Ontario, and dates the company to 1972. Of our 123 Decor-Rest listings, 106 carry our Canadian Made tag, and 15 name Campbell River.
Island Living sells two different programs, and both are sold through our Duncan store. The made-to-order one builds in Burnaby, BC, and the in-stock range is made overseas. A separate guide compares the Burnaby program and the in-stock range piece by piece.
Both upholstery makers' Canadian-built pieces last beyond ten years, in our family's experience. Pictured is the Decor-Rest 2967, an 82-inch sofa carried at our Campbell River store, so call there for our best price. Our family calls Mako's bedroom suites buy-it-once furniture: solid wood throughout, and not a sheet of veneer, MDF or particle board.
Mako's own site gives Surrey, BC as its office without saying where it builds, and the Province of BC calls Mako "a furniture producer in Surrey". Mako makes no Made in Canada claim of its own, so it stays off this count. Beaudoin has 17 pieces with our Canadian Made tag, and the Beaudoin Reflexx twin platform bed is carried here, so call us for our best price. Each maker's origin claim is checked brand by brand, and the Campbell River store can say which of these lines it orders.
For anyone after a Canadian equivalent of the big online furniture sites, our website lists the range much like one, and Campbell River pieces are ordered by phone. The Campbell River floor adds the chance to sit on a piece first.
Island taste has long leaned relaxed and traditional, and plenty of long-time residents still like it that way. As people move over from the mainland, away from the crowds and the summer smoke, Michael and I see sleek, modern styles gaining ground fast. Our family's stores set out to suit both.
Financing, deposits and accident cover on a Campbell River order
We finance. Ask us how.* Merit's financing goes through Fairstone®.
*On approved credit. Terms and conditions apply. An annual fee will be charged to your account as set out in the Retail Credit Agreement. See our Financing page for more details about our plans.
Ordering something special means a 24% deposit up front. Exchanges are encouraged for 30 days under our returns page, and we look at each request as it comes.
Accidents such as a stain, a rip or a burn fall outside any maker's warranty. For those, we offer SmartOne by Zucora, a plan that runs up to five years from the day you buy. SmartOne works on anything we sell, mattresses and recliners included. Campbell River can confirm whether its deposit and exchange terms match these.
Where the Campbell River store may fall short
Merit doesn't promise next-day delivery from any of its stores, a broken fridge included, so the date comes from Campbell River's own schedule.
Anyone set on a Canadian-made sectional will find most of the choice through our Duncan store. That is where the 11 Decor-Rest sectionals with our Canadian Made tag are sold. Campbell River carries four Decor-Rest sectional pieces of its own.

One phone call to Campbell River first
Campbell River's staff can say which pieces are standing on their floor and quote delivery to your address. Two numbers make that call quicker: the length of the wall the piece will go against, and the narrowest gap it has to pass through on the way in. Fitting a sectional to an Island room goes through the measuring.

Besides Nanaimo, our other showrooms are in Port Alberni and Duncan. The guide to how our four stores work and the appliance side of our guides fill in the rest.
Cozzia massage chairs are sold through our Duncan store, and the massage chair shelf of our guides covers each model.
