The Cozzia Radiance (model CZ-330) is the least expensive of the seven Cozzia massage chairs at Merit Home Furniture on Vancouver Island, at $4,199 before applicable taxes. That's $800 under Cozzia Canada's suggested retail of $4,999. It is a 2D massage chair, meaning a powered recliner whose rollers travel up, down and across your back at one depth, without pushing out from the backrest.
For someone new to massage chairs, the Radiance is the first of our seven I'd suggest sitting in. That assumes you're between about 5 ft 2 and 6 ft 3 and under 264 lb. It's the wrong chair above that weight, and a weak choice if you want rollers that press into a knot or warmth below the waist.
Is the Cozzia Radiance a good massage chair for the money?
The Cozzia Radiance is good value when a medium, all-over massage is what you're after and your size fits its limits. Its weak points are depth and choice. The rollers stay at one distance from the backrest, so they roll over a tight spot instead of pressing into it. The program list is short, too. Whether it's money well spent comes down to what the next chairs up at Merit would add for you.
The Zen 2 is the bigger step. It costs $2,450 more, at $6,649, and makes the step from 2D to 3D rollers. By Cozzia Canada's page, its rollers reach up to 3 inches out of the backrest. It adds heat in the seat and legs and needs no more room behind it.
The closer call is the Bliss ProFlex, only $550 more, where the two chairs trade features.
Radiance, $4,199
The lower price, and automatic leg length, which Cozzia Canada lists for the Radiance and not the Bliss ProFlex. It needs 5 inches less room behind it to recline.
Bliss ProFlex, $4,749
A second 2D mechanism in the seat, aimed at the glutes and hips by Cozzia's description, and 34 air cells on five air levels. It needs 11 inches from the wall.

Delivery is $150 across the Island, assembly included, when the order goes through our Duncan store, and it costs the same to Nanaimo or Victoria. That brings a Radiance to $4,349 before applicable taxes. Some Gulf Islands can be reached too, so ask the Duncan store for details, and lead times and old-furniture pickup are on our delivery and setup page. If you'd rather buy through our Nanaimo, Campbell River or Port Alberni store, ask it for its own delivery price.
Cozzia's US site lists the same CZ-330 at US$3,999, with 1 year of parts and in-home service, a shorter warranty than the Canadian one. A Radiance can also be financed through Fairstone®. How a store plan works on a massage chair has a guide of its own. Spread over years of regular use, a Radiance's cost per session comes to a small fraction of an Island massage appointment. If you've been quoted a lower price elsewhere, bring the quote in and ask for our best price. Ask us about flexible payment options*
*On approved credit. Terms and conditions apply. An annual fee will be charged to your account as set out in the Retail Credit Agreement. See our Financing page for more details about our plans.
What the Radiance's L-track rollers, programs and air cells do
The Radiance's L-track is the rail its rollers ride on. It runs down the backrest and curves forward under the seat, so the massage carries on past the lower back to under the glutes, as Cozzia Canada describes it.
A softening pad covers the rollers when the chair arrives. The first page of Cozzia's manual shows it unzipping and folding down to come out, for anyone who wants a deeper massage.
These are the five automatic programs, as the manual describes them:
- Gentle, a quiet, soft massage the manual suggests for beginners
- Relax, a mild program meant for winding down before sleep
- Vigorous, tapping on the back while the air cells work the arms and legs
- Neck and Shoulder, kneading and shiatsu on the neck and shoulders
- Lower Back, a deeper massage low on the back, with air compression
Two more buttons sit beside those. Rocking rocks the whole chair, and Demo runs through every function in 5 minutes. In manual mode the choice is yours: kneading, tapping, the two combined, clapping or Swedish. A spot setting parks the rollers where you want them, and partial moves them about 10 cm up and down from there. Everything runs from a wired LCD remote on a 43.3-inch cord. The Bluetooth speakers play from your phone, but only while a massage is running.
Can the Radiance's massage be made stronger or softer?
The Radiance's pressure changes in several ways. Roller speed has three settings, and so does massage width, from narrow to wide. The air cells have three intensity levels, and one button steps the air from the shoulders to the arms to the calves and feet. The next three up in price each have five, by Cozzia Canada's pages. Heat and the foot rollers each have their own on and off button, which works mid-program too. The timer starts at 15 minutes and can be set in 5-minute steps from 5 to 30.
Does the Cozzia Radiance have zero gravity, and how far back does it recline?
The Cozzia Radiance has one zero-gravity position, on its own button. Zero gravity is a set recline that leans you back and lifts your legs with a single press. Cozzia Canada says the position reduces pressure on the spine and improves circulation, and calls it doctor-inspired, though the page names no study. I'd read that as the maker's own description and leave the health side to your doctor.
Past zero gravity, holding the recline button lowers the back and lifts the legs until you're lying back. Cozzia Canada says the backrest and footrest stop at any position you like, and it lists a quick automatic body scan and automatic leg length. The same spec list says "Zero Wall Recline", but its own wall figure and the manual's drawing both put the chair 6 inches from the wall. I'd plan on six.
If a Radiance is set up near you, I'd run the Gentle program twice, with the softening pad in and then folded down. Between the two, you'll know whether its rollers get firm enough for your back before you start looking at 3D chairs.
Will a Cozzia Radiance fit your room, your door and your stairs?
A Cozzia Radiance needs about 46 by 78 inches of floor, roughly 3 ft 10 by 6 ft 6. That's the chair's upright footprint plus the clearance drawing in Cozzia's manual, which asks for 8 inches on each side, 6 behind and 15 in front. Laid back, the chair stays inside that space, a modest footprint for a condo, a cabin or one of the Island's odd-shaped character homes. On the way in, the box sets the tightest point more than the chair does.
The Radiance ships in one box of 59.9 by 31.5 by 34 inches by the manual, 198 lb with the chair inside. Cozzia Canada's page lists that 31.5 as 31.1, and I've used the larger. The manual's drawing has two people lifting the base, then the backrest tipped back 45 degrees onto its casters so the chair rolls.
A clear opening under 31.5 inches stops the box and one under 30 stops the chair, so it's worth measuring every door and stair turn on the way in. The chair also needs a grounded outlet within its 78.7-inch cord, a room kept at 10 to 40°C, and an hour to warm up after cold storage.
Cozzia Radiance warranty in Canada, and who repairs it on the Island
The Cozzia Radiance warranty in Canada is "2 year parts, 1 year labour", in Cozzia Canada's own words on the CZ-330 page. Cozzia ships warranty parts free, and simple fixes such as a new remote are done at home with its instructions. For a technician, Cozzia's warranty page offers in-home repairs "in and around major metropolitan areas". The CZ-330 manual is stricter: field service in Canada is only for major metropolitan areas.
At Merit, a warranty problem starts with a call to us rather than a call centre. We stand behind the maker's warranty on what we sell, order the parts and arrange the repair. Who would repair a Radiance in Duncan, Nanaimo, Campbell River or Port Alberni isn't confirmed yet. For longer cover, Merit sells SmartOne plans from Zucora, a Canadian firm, which run up to five years from purchase and send someone to your home for repairs. A SmartOne plan can go on a Radiance, as it can on anything else we sell.
Like La-Z-Boy's and Ashley's, Cozzia's warranty can't be transferred, and it starts on the purchase date and rules out returns for buyer's remorse. By Cozzia's Canadian FAQ, every Cozzia chair is made in the company's own factory in Xiamen, China, and sold through authorized dealers. Cozzia publishes no failure rate or expected lifespan for the Radiance, so there's no published figure for how reliable it is.
On our side, exchanges are encouraged for up to 30 days and returns are handled case by case, even though Merit's invoices say all sales are final. Whether a massage chair falls under that is still being confirmed, so ask before you buy.
When the Radiance is the wrong chair, and when to check with a doctor
The Radiance is the wrong chair for anyone above its weight rating, the lowest of the seven Cozzia chairs at Merit. The other six hold up to 300 lb, by Cozzia's FAQ and by our fit numbers for taller, shorter and heavier bodies.
It's a poor pick for cold legs, since the heat stops at the lower back. The Fusion Pro at $5,549, $1,350 more, warms the legs too, though Cozzia Canada says it needs 11 inches behind it. And the wired remote with buttons won't suit anyone set on a touch screen.
Cozzia's CZ-330 manual asks you to consult your doctor before using the chair if you:
- are on medical rest ordered by a doctor
- have a spinal disorder, a spinal injury or back problems
- have diabetes, osteoporosis or sensory impairment
- have a joint condition such as rheumatism, hammertoe or gout
- rely on a pacemaker or another electronic medical device
- may be pregnant
- have phlebitis or thrombosis, or an increased risk of blood clots
- had surgery recently, or have surgical pins or screws in a leg, ankle or foot
HealthLink BC warns against massage for anyone with a blood clot in a vein or on a blood thinner, and after recent surgery. Its pregnancy guidance is to avoid lying on your back after the fourth month, and the Radiance reclines you onto yours.
The manual adds its own limits. Keep sessions to 30 minutes, don't let the rollers work one spot for more than 5 minutes, and skip the chair for an hour before and after eating. The heat can get hot enough to burn at any setting, so the chair isn't for anyone asleep or unconscious. Anything on these lists is worth raising with your doctor before you try a massage chair, showroom trial included.

Where to try a Cozzia Radiance on Vancouver Island
To try one, call first and ask whether a Radiance is set up at a showroom near you. In Duncan we're at 107 Ingram Street, and the Duncan showroom is open 9 to 5 from Monday to Saturday. The other Merit stores are in Nanaimo, Campbell River and Port Alberni. Bring the clear width of your narrowest door, and whoever will share the chair. Nobody will hover while you sit, and nobody expects an answer that day. If one is set up in Duncan, ask for me and I'll walk you through the remote.
Call the Duncan store, (250) 746-5527
Next to the other six, the Radiance has the lowest price and the lowest weight rating, and the seven Cozzia listings show every price side by side. Fit, financing and health questions are gathered on our page of massage chair guides.
