Merit Home Furniture has no store in Victoria. Our closest showroom to the city is Duncan, about 60 km north up the Malahat, and that is the store that serves Victoria and the South Island. A delivery from Duncan to a Victoria address is the same $150 as a delivery in town, and assembly is part of it.
I'm Rubeena, and Michael and I run the Duncan store. Below is a Victoria order from our side: the fee, the wait by brand, the old sofa, our Canadian makers, and when a Victoria store suits you better.
Is there a Merit furniture store in Victoria, BC?
No. Merit is a family group of four showrooms on the Island, in Duncan, Nanaimo, Campbell River and Port Alberni. None of them is in Greater Victoria. When our family wrote down which communities each store looks after, Duncan's list ran from Saltspring and the Malahat to Victoria, Mill Bay, Shawnigan Lake and Port Renfrew.
So a Victoria buyer deals with the Island store in Duncan, by phone or in person. Most of what sits in the Duncan showroom is a display model, there to sit in and compare covers. The piece you choose is usually ordered for you, in your fabric, and then delivered or picked up.
Orders placed on our site go through Duncan for now. Where a listing says to call or shows no price, a phone call to Duncan settles it.
What furniture delivery from Duncan to Victoria costs
Delivery across the Island, Victoria included, works out to what is in the table below. These are the Duncan store's terms. Nanaimo, Campbell River and Port Alberni each set their own, so ask that store if you are buying from it.
| Item | Duncan store terms |
|---|---|
| Delivery to a Victoria address | $150, assembly included |
| Pillows, bedding, small items | Picked up at Duncan at no charge, or added to a furniture order's delivery |
| Pickup at Duncan | Free |
| Gulf Islands | Some islands only; call the Duncan store for details |
| Old furniture taken away | Usually $25 to $50 a piece, sometimes included |
| Booking | We call when it is ready and book a time, Monday to Friday, 9 to 5 |
One exception sits outside the table. Mattresses sometimes go south by another shipping method rather than on our truck, and we settle which one before you pay. Pillows are the easy case: a Natura Dream Mate latex pillow is $119.00 in queen before applicable taxes, and it can ride with a delivery or wait in Duncan.
How far does local delivery go from Duncan?
Local delivery from Duncan covers the South Island at the same $150. Langford, Saanich, Sidney and Sooke cost what Cobble Hill costs. We drive the South Island and the Cowichan Valley almost every week, so a Victoria order joins a run that is going that way anyway.
How long a Victoria order takes, brand by brand
Lead time depends on the maker, not on the distance to Victoria. These are the times until an order is ready for pickup or delivery, as Michael set them out for our delivery page this week.
| Brand or category | Ready in |
|---|---|
| Pieces already in stock | A few days to about a week |
| Mattresses, cabinet beds | 2 to 3 weeks |
| Harmony chairs | 3 to 6 weeks |
| Ashley | 4 to 6 weeks |
| Island Living | 6 to 8 weeks made to order, 2 to 3 if Island Living has it in Vancouver |
| Decor-Rest, Mako, Best | 8 to 10 weeks |
| La-Z-Boy sofas and loveseats | 8 to 10 weeks |
For La-Z-Boy chairs, ask what we have in stock, since a custom chair takes 8 to 10 weeks. If a special order runs late, we lend you loaner furniture at no charge while you wait. We usually offer a discount too if you carry on, and the longer story is in our guide to when a factory date slips.
Do you offer old furniture removal on a Victoria delivery?
Yes. Old furniture removal is something the Duncan crew can do on the same trip. From Duncan it is usually $25 to $50 a piece, and sometimes it is included, so ask when you book. Tell us how many pieces and whether any of them are sofa beds or recliners, because those are heavy.
Hauling it yourself is the other route. The Capital Regional District runs the public drop-off depot at Hartland, and it charges by weight. Its January 2026 user guide lists general refuse at $160 a tonne, plus a $10 bin fee charged once per visit. Mattresses and box springs have their own line on the same pay-by-weight list, so check the guide before loading the truck.
Who makes the best quality furniture in Canada?
No single maker owns the title of best quality furniture in Canada, and I would be wary of a store that names one. What I can tell you is which Canadian makers we sell through Duncan, and what each says about itself.
| Maker | In its own words, and an example |
|---|---|
| Decor-Rest | Woodbridge, Ontario; calls itself "a leading Canadian manufacturer of fine upholstery". The 2285 sofa is $1,699.00 in fabric, $2,899.00 in leather |
| Island Living | Factory at 7885 Riverfront Gate, Burnaby; established in 1959, more than 180 people. The Tofino is made to order; call for the price |
| Mako | The Province of BC calls it "a furniture producer in Surrey". The Natalie panel bed is $1,099.00 in queen, $1,249.00 in king |
Prices are our listed prices, read on October 9, 2026, before applicable taxes. Island Living keeps its prices off the internet, so the Tofino shows none. Its made-to-order pieces come from Burnaby, while a separate in-stock range is made overseas for Island Living.
The rest of our Canadian lines sit in the Canadian made collection, and our guide on which makers build in Canada goes maker by maker. For the wider choice, the living room pieces and the bedroom furniture are on the site with prices where the maker allows them.
Where can I find cheap furniture in Victoria?
Cheap furniture in Victoria is easier to find in Victoria itself. Several stores there carry stock for same-week pickup at a low sticker, and we do not compete on that. What we offer is the Best Price Guarantee: find a better price on the same piece and we refund 100% of the difference. How we price a piece is in a written quote, which also lists the delivery.
When ordering from Duncan is the wrong call for a Victoria home
A Duncan order is slow if the room is empty this week. There is no next-day delivery from us, and most pieces are ordered after you choose them. A sofa needed for Saturday is a job for a Victoria store with that sofa in its warehouse.
Special orders take a 24% deposit. Exchanges are welcome for up to 30 days, decided one case at a time. Fabric choices are worth settling before the deposit, not after.
Older Victoria houses have tight stair turns and narrow halls, and a sectional covered in your fabric cannot be shaved down at the door. Measure the door and the narrowest turn on the way in, and send us the numbers with the order.
Ordering from Victoria by phone, or driving up to Duncan
Call the Duncan store with the piece you have in mind, the room measurements and your postal code. We will give you the price, the delivery cost and an honest lead time before you order. If you want to sit in a sofa first, ask what is set up in the showroom before you make the drive.
You will find us downtown at 107 Ingram St, with the doors open Monday to Saturday, 9 to 5. The City of Duncan has free three-hour lots downtown, and the Duncan page has directions to Ingram Street. The rest of how we deliver, quote and book is on our page for Island customers.
