The Cozzia Zen Duo (model CZ-650) is a massage chair with two 3D roller mechanisms, a two-stage recline and 40 air cells, with heat for the legs and lumbar. At Merit Home Furniture on Vancouver Island it costs $9,799 before applicable taxes, sold through our Duncan store. It ships in two boxes, and Cozzia's manual says two people are needed to lift it.
An earlier version of this page gave an old price and listed seat heat, which Cozzia's own pages do not. This one is built from Cozzia's manual and its Canadian product page, read on October 2, 2026.
What the Cozzia Zen Duo is and what $9,799 buys
The Zen Duo is the third most expensive of the 7 Cozzia massage chairs we carry on the Island, between the Zen 2 and the Qi XE Pro Duo. Its rollers move up and down, side to side, and in and out toward the body. Cozzia calls that Vario-Motion and describes the result as a human-like massage.
What sets the Zen Duo apart from the Zen 2 is a second 3D mechanism. Cozzia Canada lists an upper and a lower 3D Vario-Motion mechanism, and the remote sets the strength of each one on its own. Cozzia does not say in writing exactly where the lower one works. Its US page says the chair reaches "from shoulders to feet", and its Canadian page says the track extends into the seat.
Both mechanisms ride a Li Flex track, which Cozzia describes as massage "from neck to buttocks" along the curve of the spine, and sells as full-body coverage. Cozzia's US page gives the rollers 3 inch nodes, and foot and sole rollers work underneath. One button tips the chair back into zero gravity, and another lays it flat.
Zen Duo specifications, with the figures Cozzia disagrees on marked
Cozzia's manual, its Canadian page and its US page do not always agree. Where they differ, the safer number comes first and the other sits in brackets. Our Zen Duo product page supplied the price on October 16, 2026.

How much room does a Cozzia Zen Duo need?
A Zen Duo wants about 4 inches of space behind the backrest for a full recline, going by the clearance drawing in Cozzia's manual. Cozzia Canada's page rounds that down to 3.5. One line in the spec list on Cozzia's US page says 6 inches, which is the Zen 2's figure, while the same page says 3.5 in its heading. I would plan on 4, or on 6 where the wall is freshly painted.
The same drawing reserves 31.5 inches ahead of the chair and 8 on either side. Added to the upright size, that comes to a patch of floor about 98.5 by 46.7 inches. Put another way, just over 8 feet deep and nearly 4 feet wide. Laid back, the chair alone is more than six and a half feet long.
Getting it indoors is the second measurement. The base and back box is the big one: its narrowest side is 32.5 inches, and it weighs 270 lb on its own. Out of that box the chair is 30.7 inches wide. The footrest travels separately in a small box that one person can carry.
Two people are needed to lift the chair, the manual says, and rolling it on its castors can mark a wood floor. Before delivery, it helps us to know the narrowest door on the way in, any stairs, and any tight turn at a landing. Our door guide shows how to find the narrowest point on the route, and that number decides how the chair comes in.
Zen Duo massage, air, heat and controls in plain terms
Cozzia's marketing splits the Zen Duo into many headings. Five of them cover what a buyer sits in every day, and where a claim is Cozzia's alone, it is quoted as theirs.
- Techniques. Six of them: kneading, tapping, Swedish, rolling, shiatsu and clapping. Kneading can run together with tapping, clapping or shiatsu. A custom program can give the upper and lower mechanisms different jobs.
- Air massage. The manual's diagram groups the air bags as 16, 16 and 8. Cozzia Canada names the shoulders, seat, thighs, feet, calves and knees, and the US page adds the arms.
- Heat. Two zones, the lumbar and the legs, each set from the custom screen. Cozzia Canada calls them its 2 Heat Zones. Nothing warms the seat.
- Comfort and fit. A body scan runs first, and arrows on the screen move the shoulder position it found. Cozzia lists auto leg length detection, automatic calf adjustment and a leg rest sensor meant to stop pinching as it retracts.
- Controls. A wired touchscreen remote runs everything. The smart dial in the armrest turns through seven functions: auto programs, chair position, upper strength, lower strength, footrest, heat and foot rollers. Cozzia calls this intuitive control, and it means a program can start without the remote.
Of the 28 programs, the 18 automatic ones run from a 5 minute Try Me to Spine Care, Post Workout and a Night program. Smaller extras include colour lighting in the shoulders and a password child lock. The speakers pair under the name "Zen Duo" and play only while a massage runs. At its rated current the chair draws at most about 276 watts. A 30 minute session therefore costs under 2 cents at BC Hydro's tiered rates of 11.87 and 14.08 cents per kWh.
Does the Zen Duo's voice control need the internet?
No. The manual describes offline voice control: once it is switched on in settings, the chair listens for a wake-up word, then a command, and answers as it acts. It understands English only. Wi-Fi matters elsewhere, since saving favourites to an account and installing software upgrades both need a connection. Cozzia Canada's CZ-650 page does not mention voice control, so we would check that with Cozzia Canada before anyone counts on it.
Is the zero gravity position worth paying for?
Zero gravity is a preset recline that lifts the legs as the back tips. On the Zen Duo it is one button, beside a lie-flat button and a home button that brings it upright. As a reason to spend $9,799, it carries little weight. The $5,549 Fusion Pro has two zero gravity positions, so the money here buys the lower mechanism and the air cells.
Zen Duo next to the Zen 2 and the Qi XE Pro Duo
The Cozzia chairs priced on either side of the Zen Duo differ in mechanism, air cells, wall gap and warranty. Each price below is Merit's, taken from the live pages on October 16, before applicable taxes.
Zen 2, $6,649
The Zen 2 costs $3,150 less. Cozzia Canada gives it one 3D mechanism, 30 air cells and heat at the legs, lumbar and seat. It needs 6 inches from the wall, ships in one box and carries 2 years parts with 1 year labour. The full measurements are in the Zen 2's own guide.
Qi XE Pro Duo, $14,349
The Qi XE Pro Duo costs $4,550 more. Cozzia Canada describes a dual 4D mechanism, 64 airbags and a Chair Doctor program that scans the body. It needs 8 inches from the wall, weighs 289.9 lb, and carries 3 years parts and 3 years labour.
Who repairs a Zen Duo on the Island, and what the warranty covers
Cozzia Canada covers the Zen Duo for 2 years on parts and 2 years on labour, a year more labour than the Zen 2 gets. The manual counts it from the date of purchase, with no extension for delivery time. A claim needs the chair's serial number and a dated receipt.
The line that matters most on the Island is about field service. Cozzia's manual says its technicians visit homes in the United States and "major metropolitan areas in Canada". Cozzia's US page advertises an in-home repair service and promises a replacement if a chair under warranty cannot be fixed. The Canadian page makes no such promise. Merit stands behind the Cozzia warranty here: we order the parts and do the repair work, so a fault starts with a call to us.
Buyer's remorse is outside Cozzia's terms altogether, and its manual rules out return authorizations for it. The warranty does not transfer to a second owner and does not apply to commercial use. On our side, exchanges within 30 days are encouraged, case by case. A Zen Duo ordered in for you is a special order, which means a 24% deposit when you place it.
SmartOne, an extended plan from Zucora, runs 5 years. It covers massage chairs along with the rest of what we sell, the Zen Duo included. A display model carries only a prorated Cozzia warranty, starting the day a store plugs it in.
Where can I buy a Cozzia chair on Vancouver Island, and is Costco an option?
Cozzia sells through authorized dealers, according to its FAQ, and makes every chair in its own factory in Xiamen, China. Merit lists 7 Cozzia models, all sold through Duncan, with today's prices in the Cozzia section of our site. Costco is the other place Canadians shop for a massage chair. Its range changes and we have not compared it, so we will not name a best chair there. Whoever sells it, the useful questions are the same: how many mechanisms, what wall gap, what weight limit and who fixes it on the Island.
Where the Zen Duo falls short
Price comes first. Over the Zen 2, the extra money mainly buys the lower mechanism and ten more air cells. Sitting in both before deciding is the sensible order.
The seat gets no heat, though the cheaper Zen 2 warms it. On a damp coast evening some will notice.
It is heavy and long, so plan on keeping it where it lands. It suits a room where it can recline without blocking a path.
Anyone close to Cozzia's weight limit, or taller or shorter than its fit range, is better off trying one before ordering.
Health matters most. The manual's doctor-first list includes a pacemaker or other electronic medical device, a possible pregnancy, and phlebitis or thrombosis. Recent surgery is on the list, and so are surgical pins or screws in the legs, ankles or feet. HealthLink BC lists a blood clot in a vein, a bleeding disorder, blood thinners and recent surgery among the times massage is a bad idea. The manual also advises against sessions over 30 minutes or within an hour of a meal. Our guide sets out what to check with a doctor first.

Sitting in a Zen Duo before buying, through our Duncan store
Merit's Duncan store at 107 Ingram St handles Zen Duo orders. It opens Monday to Saturday from 9 to 5, and a call before the drive tells you whether one is set up to sit in that day. Running the Lower Body program first, then a back program, is the quickest way to judge what the second mechanism adds.
Delivery from Duncan costs $150 to Island addresses, assembly included. We reach some Gulf Islands too, with details over the phone, and collecting the chair at the Duncan store costs nothing. Delivery from our other three stores runs on their own terms, so the nearest one can quote it.
We finance. Ask us how.* The details sit on our Fairstone® financing page.
*On approved credit. Terms and conditions apply. An annual fee will be charged to your account as set out in the Retail Credit Agreement. See our Financing page for more details about our plans.
For a wider view, the comparison page has all seven chairs measured the same way, and the massage chair guide list gathers the fit, price and safety guides. Merit's whole range sits in one massage chair collection.
