The Cozzia Quantum (model CZ-800) is a 5D massage chair. That means a recliner with a 4D mechanism (rollers that vary their speed and rhythm) plus 27 pressure sensors that adjust how hard the rollers press as a program runs. Around it sit 73 air cells, heat from the shoulders to the soles of the feet, and a long list of extras. At Merit Home Furniture on Vancouver Island it is $16,549 before applicable taxes, $450 under Cozzia Canada's suggested retail of $16,999.
It is also the last of our seven Cozzia chairs I'd suggest to most people shopping for a massage chair. The Qi XE Pro Duo at $14,349 has its own version of every part of the Quantum that changes the massage. The one practical reason I would point someone to the Quantum is space. Cozzia rates it at 1 inch from the wall when it reclines, against 8 inches for the Qi XE Pro Duo.
Is the Cozzia Quantum massage chair worth $16,549?
The Cozzia Quantum is worth $16,549 to two kinds of buyer. One is a daily user who has sat in both chairs on the same program and can feel the 5D mechanism working. The other has a room where the chair can only sit an inch or two from the wall. For anyone else, the $2,200 between the two chairs buys less than the spec sheet suggests.
Cozzia's own features and benefits page for the Quantum runs to 14 headings. Five change the massage: the 5D mechanism, the Li Flex track, the air cells and heat pads, the pivoting footrest and the Chair Doctor scan. One, the wall clearance, changes the room. The other eight are extras, from the speakers to a claim about quietness. Some are handy, and none of them is a reason to own a massage chair.
Cozzia Quantum, $16,549
One 5D mechanism. 73 air cells. Heat from the shoulders to the feet. Rated 1 inch from the wall. 31.8 inches wide, 294 lb. A 12.3 inch touch screen, four speakers, a wireless charger and a scent diffuser.
Qi XE Pro Duo, $14,349
Two 4D mechanisms, an upper and a lower. 64 air cells. Heat in four zones by both Cozzia websites, none under the feet. Needs 8 inches from the wall. 32 inches wide, 290 lb. A wired touch-screen remote, a smart dial, two speakers and a USB-C port. The full Qi XE Pro Duo specifications are on its listing.
My reason for putting the Quantum last is the $2,200. A call ahead tells you whether both are set up. If they are, I'll suggest twenty minutes in the Qi XE Pro Duo first, then the same program in the Quantum at intensity 1 with the screen dimmed. If the 5D pass feels no different, the Qi XE Pro Duo is the better use of the money, unless the wall decides it.

What does a Cozzia Quantum cost in Canada?
A Cozzia Quantum costs $16,549 at Merit before applicable taxes. Cozzia Canada's suggested retail is $16,999, and Cozzia's US site lists it at US$15,999.99. Delivery is $150 across the Island, assembly included, and how Island delivery works is covered in our service guides. The seven Cozzia chairs we carry start at $4,199 for the Radiance. If you are pricing the Quantum against another dealer, ask us for our best price on this one.
Running a Quantum costs pennies. It is rated at 2.3 amps on a 120-volt outlet, so it draws at most about 276 watts, or 0.14 kWh in a 30-minute session. BC Hydro's residential rate from April 1, 2026 is 11.87 cents per kWh on Tier 1 and 14.08 on Tier 2. That keeps it under 2 cents a session, and once a day for a year comes to about $6 to $7. Cozzia publishes no standby figure, so I won't guess one.
How the Quantum's 5D massage robot and Li Flex track work
The 5D mechanism is what separates the Quantum from every other Cozzia chair at Merit. Cozzia calls it the world's first fifth generation 5D massage robot, a claim I have no way to check. Its 27 pressure sensors measure how hard the rollers press, and the mechanism adjusts that pressure from those readings as the program runs. The rollers reach up to 3.9 inches out from the backrest and work in six techniques (shiatsu, kneading, clapping, tapping, Swedish and rolling) at five intensity levels.
The Li Flex track is the path those rollers follow, from the neck down to the buttocks. The backrest and seat move separately in a two-stage recline, so the chair slides forward as it tips back and stays close to the wall. Fully back it lies close to flat, at about 170 degrees by Cozzia's website.
Chair Doctor is the hand-held palm sensor. It reads skin response (which shifts with stress), heart rate and blood oxygen, then builds a program around the tension it finds. The screen has a button to find the sensor when it wanders. Treat the readings as a guide for the program. Cozzia's manual says the chair is not for self-treating anything a health care provider should manage.
What is the difference between a 4D and a 5D massage chair?
A 4D mechanism speeds up and slows down inside each stroke, following the program it was given. A 5D mechanism adds the sensor readings, so the pressure also answers to your body mid-session. On paper that should feel less repetitive over a long program. Whether it is worth $2,200 over the two 4D mechanisms in the Qi XE Pro Duo is a question for your back.
73 airbags, heat pads and a footrest that pivots
The Quantum has 73 air cells, the most of the seven Cozzia chairs at Merit. Cozzia splits them 33 in the shoulders, arms, lower back and seat, 26 in the legs and knees, and 14 in the feet. They squeeze and release at five intensity levels, set apart from the rollers, so a firm back massage can run with gentle air.
Heat pads sit in the shoulders, arms, lower back and seat, around the legs and knees, and under the feet, and the rollers are heated as well. Cozzia Canada counts six heat zones, with the temperature set from the screen.
The footrest pivots and stretches the foot, and it extends to match your leg length, up to about 6 ft 5. Sole rollers with a scraping action work the bottom of the foot, with air and heat around it; Cozzia calls that tri-action. The leg rest has a safety sensor, and the manual asks that children be kept clear of it when it is extended.
Cloud Lift is Cozzia's name for the finish. When a program ends or the chair powers down, the air cells give a slow, soft push instead of stopping dead.
Speakers, screen, voice control and the Quantum's other extras
The Qi XE Pro Duo lacks these extras or does them more simply. The Quantum has a 12.3 inch screen, four speakers where the Qi has two, a wireless charger and a scent diffuser. The table gives Cozzia's numbers for each and what to check before it counts toward the price.
| Extra | What it does |
|---|---|
| Monster 3D surround sound speakers | Two 15 W and two 8 W speakers, paired by Bluetooth as "Cozzia Quantum". They only play while a massage is running. |
| 12.3 in HD touch screen | The main controller, on an arm beside the chair, with menus in English, French, Spanish, Vietnamese and Chinese. Check you can reach it fully reclined. |
| Smart dial and quick action buttons | The dial powers the chair on and off and turns right for a deeper back massage. The buttons start relax and stretch programs, heat and recline. |
| AI voice control | Spoken commands for programs, intensity and settings, working offline. It has an off switch in the settings menu. |
| Wireless charger | A 15 W wireless pad for a phone, plus a 45 W USB-C port. The pad only works with phones that charge wirelessly. |
| Aromatherapy and negative ions | A diffuser with three scents, each pod rated at about six weeks. Ask about refill pods before counting on it. |
| "World's quietest robotic massage chair" | Cozzia's claim, based on the design of the air pump and actuators. Cozzia publishes no decibel figure to back it. |
| Child lock | A password that disables the chair, worth setting with children or grandchildren in the house. |
The voice control runs offline, by Cozzia Canada's description, and the only use the manual gives for Wi-Fi is logging in to a user account. For the quiet claim, the fair test is hearing the chair run in a showroom with nothing else playing.
Will a Cozzia Quantum fit through your door and into the room?
A Cozzia Quantum needs roughly 4 by 8 feet of floor and a route wide enough for a 33.9 inch box. Cozzia advertises it at one inch from the wall. The clearance drawing in its own manual asks for more: 2 inches behind, 8 inches on each side and 31.5 inches in front. Added to the chair's upright footprint of 31.8 by 63 inches, that is a space of about 48 by 97 inches. The base box weighs about 279 lb, and the manual says two people are needed to lift the chair.
- Measure the clear opening. Open the narrowest door on the route fully and measure between the stops. Under 34 inches, the boxed base won't fit, so tell us the width when you order; near 32, measure twice, since the chair is 31.8 wide.
- Walk the route. Note stairs, landings and tight turns, and tell us about them when you order.
- Tape out the floor. Mark 48 by 97 inches where the chair will go and leave it down for a day or two. The chair rolls for small moves, though Cozzia warns it can mark a wood floor.
- Find the outlet. The manual calls for a grounded three-prong outlet, and the cord is 70.9 inches, just under 6 feet.
- Check the temperature. Cozzia rates the chair for indoor use at 10 to 40°C. An unheated garage or sunroom in an Island winter can drop below that, and a chair brought in from the cold needs an hour before it runs.
Who should skip the Cozzia Quantum, or ask a doctor first
The Quantum is the wrong buy for anyone who would use it a few times a week. At that rate the Qi XE Pro Duo, or the Zen Duo at $9,799, covers the whole body for $2,200 to $6,750 less.
It is also the wrong chair for anyone outside Cozzia's size range. Its FAQ gives up to 300 lb, and about 5 ft 2 to 6 ft 5 on premium models. Cozzia's own product pages print 320 lb, and our product page goes by the lower 300, as we do.
It is a poor chair to resell or move house with. Cozzia's warranty is non-transferable, so a second-hand Quantum carries no Cozzia cover, and a floor model's warranty is prorated from the day the store plugs it in.
Cozzia's manual asks you to talk to your doctor before using the chair if you:
- have a pacemaker or another electronic medical device
- are or may be pregnant
- have phlebitis, thrombosis or a higher risk of blood clots
- have had recent surgery, or have pins or screws in the legs, ankles or feet
- have a spinal condition, back problems, diabetes, osteoporosis or reduced feeling in the skin
HealthLink BC, the provincial health information service, advises against massage with a blood clot in a vein, a bleeding disorder, a blood thinner or recent surgery. Its pregnancy page touches this chair twice. It advises against lying on your back after the fourth month of pregnancy, and the Quantum reclines nearly flat. It also says to talk to your doctor before using aromatherapy oils, and the Quantum has a scent diffuser.
The manual caps a session at 30 minutes and warns against more than 5 minutes on one spot. The full list of cautions is in our health guide. If any of it applies, ask your doctor before you sit in one, showroom trial included.
Cozzia Quantum warranty and repairs on Vancouver Island
The Cozzia Quantum's warranty in Canada is 3 years parts, 3 years labour. Only the Qi XE Pro Duo matches it among the seven Cozzia chairs at Merit. Cozzia ships warranty parts free, and a small fix like a new remote can be done by the owner. A claim needs the serial number and a dated receipt. Cover starts on the purchase date, even if delivery comes later, and excludes rental or commercial use.
Labour is the part to ask about on the Island. Cozzia's manual says in-home field service needs Cozzia's approval first and is offered only in major metropolitan areas in Canada, a phrase it does not define. Merit's policy is to back the manufacturer's warranty on what we sell: we order the parts and look after the repair, so the first call comes to us. Which technician comes to your house on the Island is still being confirmed with Cozzia's Canadian distributor.
Merit's own extended option is SmartOne, from Zucora, a Canadian company. It runs up to five years from the purchase date and sends someone to your house for repairs. SmartOne works on anything we sell, so a Quantum can go on a plan too. Cozzia's standard terms rule out taking a chair back for buyer's remorse, one more reason to sit in it before paying.
Where can I buy a Cozzia chair on the Island?
Cozzia sells through authorized dealers, by its own FAQ, and Merit Home Furniture orders through Cozzia's Canadian distributor. The Quantum sits in the Cozzia collection on our site with the six other models, and the other brands we carry have guides of their own. Buying on the Island keeps the receipt, the serial number and the first warranty call with a store you can drive to.

Sitting in a Quantum at our Duncan showroom
Trying a Quantum at Merit starts with a phone call. Ask whether one is set up at the Duncan showroom on Ingram Street, the store our Cozzia listings are sold through. Half an hour is about right, and the clear width of your narrowest door helps us. Nobody will follow you around while you decide. Duncan is open Monday to Saturday, 9 to 5. If both chairs are set up there when you call, ask for me and I'll run them side by side.
