Restwell is one of the mattress makers on Merit Home Furniture's listings for Vancouver Island, with eight mattresses and three adjustable bases orderable through our Duncan store. The lowest price is $799.00, for the Robin in twin. At the top sits a copper hybrid, the Copper Hybrid, from $1,999.00 in twin.
Seven of the eight mattress listings give the full layer build, down to the half inch of foam, and the Copper Hybrid carries a few lines. This guide gathers each Restwell model, its build where we know it, its live price, and the adjustable bases that go under it.
Prices below were read from our live listings on October 16, 2026, before applicable taxes. A Restwell order is ready for pickup or delivery in 2 to 3 weeks.
What is a Restwell mattress, and who makes it?
A Restwell mattress is a bed sold under the Restwell Sleep Products name. Restwell describes itself as a "family-owned" maker of mattresses and sleep products, "located in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada". Its home page adds that it has made beds since 1990.
Which of Merit's eight Restwell mattresses come from Restwell's own plant is still unconfirmed. So this page makes no claim about where any one model is made, and we'll update it once Restwell confirms.
On our listings the Restwell names fall into three groups:
- The Contour Collection. Five bird names, the Canary, Robin, Starling, Nightingale and Sparrow, each with the maker's spec sheet. The last three form an Elite tier, and the Nightingale has two listings.
- The Savannah Plush. Its listing places it in Spring Air's Back Supporter Elite line, and Back Supporter is one of the brands on Restwell's home page.
- A single name. The Copper Hybrid, Spring Air's Copper mattress by its listing, with a short description.
Restwell Contour Collection specs: coils, layers and height
Every Contour mattress sits on a 5-zone, 8 in. pocket coil that is firmer under the lower back, per Restwell's spec sheets. In the language of mattress types and spec terms, a pocket coil is a spring sewn into its own fabric sleeve, so each spring moves on its own. Every sheet lists CertiPUR-US certified foams and a 10-year limited warranty.
| Model and lowest price | Feel, top and height |
|---|---|
|
Robin $799.00 twin |
Plush, euro top, 12 1/4 in.; 1,200 coils |
|
Canary $849.00 double |
Firm, tight top, 12 in.; 1,200 coils |
|
Starling (Elite) $1,449.00 queen |
Medium, euro top, 13 in.; 1,200 coils plus micro coils |
|
Nightingale (Elite) $1,499.00 queen |
Firm, tight top, 12 1/2 in.; 1,200 coils plus micro coils |
|
Sparrow (Elite) $2,199.00 queen |
Plush, pillow top, 15 1/2 in.; 1,200 coils plus micro coils |
The tops are worth a gloss. A tight top has the cover stitched flat over the foam. A euro top adds a padded layer sewn square with the mattress edge. A pillow top sits a thicker padded layer on top, like a cushion.
Every Contour model we list sits on 1,200 coils. The Canary and Robin, the first two up the collection, add zoned gel memory foam and a foam-encased edge for sitting near the side. Their Tencel cover carries a silk and wool fibre blend.
The Elite three then add a 1 in. layer of 1,400 micro coils and a layer of zoned latex above the main coil. Their cover is what Restwell calls COOLER surface fabric. The Starling and Sparrow also carry 7-zone Conforma Touch foam, 1 1/2 in. in the Starling and 2 1/2 in. in the Sparrow.
The Canary and Robin part ways on top. The Canary is the firm tight top, and the Robin the plush euro top with 2 in. of plush high density foam. The Robin lists four sizes, twin to king, and its queen is $1,049.00.
CertiPUR-US, the foam program on every sheet, says certified foams are made without formaldehyde, ozone depleters, prohibited phthalates, and mercury, lead and other heavy metals. It also tests for low emissions of volatile organic compounds, "less than 0.5 parts per million".
The other Restwell models: Savannah Plush and Copper Hybrid
Two Restwell mattresses at Merit sit outside the Contour Collection. The Savannah Plush listing gives a full build, and the Copper Hybrid's gives a short description and a price.
| Model and lowest price | What our listing says |
|---|---|
|
Savannah Plush $1,549.00 queen |
Plush pillow top, 15 in.; king is $2,299.00 |
| Copper Hybrid $1,999.00 twin |
Coils under copper-infused memory foam; queen is $2,499.00 |
The Savannah Plush is the tallest bed here after the Sparrow. Its listing gives a 5-zone pocket coil with 1,200 coils in queen, firmer in the lumbar area, under 7-zone Conforma Touch foam and gel memory foam. It also has a foam-encased edge and a soft Tencel cover. It is the only Restwell listing that says "Adjustable base friendly", and it lists a 10-year full warranty.
The Copper Hybrid listing says we stock it in firm, medium and plush, and that twin, split-head and other sizes can be ordered. A split head divides the top half of the mattress so two sleepers can raise their side of an adjustable base separately.
Several Restwell listings show only one or two sizes. A size that isn't listed may still be orderable, so ask before ruling a model out.
Restwell adjustable bases at Duncan and Campbell River
Restwell's bases on Merit's Duncan listings are three adjustable ones. An adjustable base raises the head and feet with a motor, and the three differ in what the remote can do.
| Base | Type and prices by size |
|---|---|
| Peak | Adjustable, head and foot: $999.00 twin XL, $1,049.00 twin, $1,199.00 double, $1,249.00 queen |
| Pinnacle | Adjustable, massage and presets: $1,499.00 twin XL, $1,849.00 queen |
| Pinnacle queen with massage | Adjustable, with Bluetooth app control and an under-bed light: $1,749.00 queen |
The Peak listing gives legs of 1, 3 or 6 inches. The Pinnacle listing adds an under-bed night light with a motion sensor.
One more Restwell base is held at a single store. Campbell River lists the Plateau queen, with zero clearance on a platform bed, and it's sold by calling that store for our best price.
A new mattress on a tired old base wears faster, so the base deserves the same thought as the bed. Before pairing any Restwell other than the Savannah Plush with an adjustable base, ask us whether that model is built to bend.
Which Restwell mattress suits which sleeper?
Restwell labels the feel on seven listings: three firm, one medium and three plush. Those labels are Restwell's own scale, and what firmness and construction actually change differs from one maker to the next.
- Firm: Canary, Nightingale, Nightingale Elite.
- Medium: Starling.
- Plush: Robin, Sparrow, Savannah Plush.
For a sore back, HealthLink BC advises trying to "sleep with your back in a neutral position". It describes that as "not arched a lot, but not flat either". It even suggests the floor may feel better than a very soft mattress. A mattress isn't treatment, and pain that wakes you or spreads into the legs belongs with your doctor first.
A bed with little on paper is not the mattress for a bad back, so the Copper Hybrid's short listing is worth a question first. For a hot sleeper, the Elite models carry what Restwell calls a COOLER cover. For sitting on the edge, the Canary, Robin, Elite three and Savannah Plush list a foam-encased edge.
What mattress should I stay away from?
The one you haven't lain on long enough. The Better Sleep Council puts the time it takes to relax onto a mattress, and feel its "true support", at up to 15 minutes. It suggests shoes off, comfortable pants, and lying in the positions you sleep in. The same page puts a mattress's useful life at "about seven years." Getting there also depends on rotating a one-sided mattress the way its maker asks.
Is there a highest rated mattress in Canada?
I know of no Canadian government or standards body that rates mattresses against each other. Online rankings come from review sites and makers, and each rates the bed its reviewer slept on. The mattress used in 5 star hotels is the same story. Chains order beds built to their own spec, so a hotel name won't match a model here. As for the top 3 mattress brands, I'd rather match a feel and a budget than a name.
Where a Restwell may not suit
One of Merit's eight Restwell mattresses says little about what's inside. The Copper Hybrid starts at $1,999.00 with no layer list, so ask us for the full build before paying that much on a short description.
The Nightingale and Nightingale Elite listings carry the same spec sheet at different prices: $1,499.00 and $1,449.00 in queen. Ask us which one we'd order before choosing on price alone.
Origin is open. If a Canadian-built bed is the deciding factor, wait for Restwell's confirmation or look at makers who state it themselves.
Only the Savannah Plush is listed as adjustable base friendly, and only seven listings name a feel. Buying one of the others without lying on it, or without the maker's word on bending, is a guess.
Ordering a Restwell through Duncan: timing, delivery and warranty
Online orders for Restwell go through our Duncan store, and the steps are the same whether the order starts on the site or by phone.
- Ask what's set up. Duncan's floor holds display models, and most Duncan sales are custom orders. Call to ask which Restwells are on display at our Duncan store before driving in.
- Place the order. Allow 2 to 3 weeks before a Restwell is ready to collect or deliver. If the size is a special order, we take a 24% deposit.
- Delivery or pickup. Duncan charges $150 across the Island for delivery, with assembly included. A Gulf Islands run is possible for some islands, and the store gives the details when you call. Sending a mattress across the Island can call for another shipping method, so ask. Collecting it at Duncan costs nothing.
- Warranty. The Contour sheets list a 10-year limited warranty. On a warranty claim, Merit stands behind the maker's warranty: we order the parts and handle the repair.
SmartOne from Zucora is the extended plan we offer, running 5 years, and it works on a mattress as well as on furniture. We encourage exchanges for up to 30 days and look at each one on its merits. We finance a mattress through Fairstone®. Ask us about flexible payment options* Delivery terms are on our delivery page.
*On approved credit. Terms and conditions apply. An annual fee will be charged to your account as set out in the Retail Credit Agreement. See our Financing page for more details about our plans.
