Beautyrest is the pocketed-coil mattress from Simmons. A pocketed coil wraps each steel spring in its own fabric pocket, so the spring flexes on its own instead of pulling on the springs beside it. Simmons first sold the Beautyrest with those coils in 1925.
Merit Home Furniture still lists nine Beautyrest mattresses among the beds we sell on Vancouver Island, and all nine are carried at our Campbell River store. Prices come from that store, which gives our best price by phone. They come from four Beautyrest families: the core Beautyrest line, Harmony, World Class and Centennial.
The mattresses at our Duncan store are Restwell and Restonic, listed in our Restwell collection and our Restonic collection.
Every Beautyrest spec below comes from our own listings as they stood on October 16, 2026, or from Beautyrest's own pages. The sections cover each line, how to pick a top, what goes underneath, and what the warranty leaves out.
Is Beautyrest a good brand of mattress?
Beautyrest is a sound choice for a sleeper who wants a coil bed that keeps a partner's movement on their side. Serta Simmons says the 1925 Beautyrest was "the first mass-produced mattress with this technology providing individual support and motion separation, so couples could sleep undisturbed."
Beautyrest Canada goes further and writes, "We invented Pocketed Coil® tech and the hybrid construction." That is the maker's claim, and I cannot check it, so read it as theirs.
The badge matters less than three choices: the top, the height and the base. Six of our nine Beautyrest listings print a ten-year non-prorated warranty, which means a covered defect in year eight is handled the same as one in year two. Hermes prints a plain 10-Year Warranty, and Iven and Lucor print no term at all, so the term on those is a question for the store.
Beautyrest lines Merit still lists, and where
These are the nine Beautyrest mattresses on our pages after the October 9, 2026 catalogue change. Each one is carried at our Campbell River store, which quotes them by phone.
| Line | Models | Feel and height | Store |
|---|---|---|---|
| Core Beautyrest | Egan, Elan, Iven | Firm, medium and soft pillow tops, 14 to 15 in | Campbell River |
| Beautyrest Harmony | Azure, twin XL | Firm pillow top, 13.25 in | Campbell River |
| World Class | Lucor, Ephy (queen) | Medium and soft pillow tops, 16 to 16.5 in | Campbell River |
| Centennial | Altar, Hermes, Harmonia | Firm tight top to extra soft super pillow top, 13 to 16.5 in | Campbell River |
Beautyrest's US site calls the core line "Our signature collection," built on 875 Density Pocketed Coil Technology. Our Iven listing gives the same figure, 875 Beautyrest Pocketed Coil.
World Class is "Our premier collection" on the same site, with 1000 Density Pocketed Coil Technology, and our Ephy listing gives 1000 pocketed coils. Beautyrest Canada describes the World Class top as "a classic, quilted surface."
Centennial is "Our most advanced sleep system," built on Triple-Stranded Pocketed Coil Technology "for maximum individualized support," in the maker's words. For Harmony, Beautyrest Canada says its Precision Support System "provides consistent, head-to-toe support across the entire mattress."
Two lines from our old pages are gone. We no longer list any Beautyrest RV size, or any model from the World Class Hybrid line.
The Harmonia listing also shows why coil counts mislead across sizes. It gives 1,693 coils in a twin XL, 2,700 in a queen and 3,564 in a king, so compare counts only at the same size.
Which Beautyrest mattress type is right for you?
A Beautyrest mattress type comes down to the surface you lie on. Beautyrest sorts its beds into a quilted top and a smooth hybrid top. Our listings also name a third, the tight top.
Quilted pillow top
Beautyrest calls this one "ideal for those who desire a quilted mattress surface with an elevated feel." Eight of our nine are pillow tops: Egan, Elan, Iven, Azure, Lucor, Ephy, Hermes and Harmonia.
World Class Hybrid
Beautyrest calls this one "ideal for those who desire a smooth mattress surface with a contouring feel." None of the nine Beautyrest beds left on our pages has that smooth hybrid top.
A tight top such as Altar skips the pillow layer. It sits lower and feels firmer at the surface than a pillow top over the same coil.
The firmness word is in every model name, from firm on Iven, Azure and Altar to extra soft on Hermes. Height runs from 13 inches on Altar to 16.5 inches on Lucor, Hermes and Harmonia. A taller bed puts more foam between you and the springs, and it weighs more on the stairs.
BeautySleep by Beautyrest and the hybrid mattress in a box
BeautySleep is Beautyrest's entry collection. Beautyrest describes its BeautySleep Hybrid Mattress In A Box Collection as "Conveniently delivered in a box and designed with Original Beautyrest® Pocketed Coil® Technology to expand rapidly."
The same entry range promises Original Beautyrest Pocketed Coil Technology "for consistent, supportive sleep at an affordable price."
No BeautySleep model is left among Merit's Beautyrest listings, and none of the nine listings describes a boxed delivery. Every Beautyrest we list now is a pillow top or a tight top, 13 inches or taller.
What are the top 5 rated Beautyrest mattresses?
Beautyrest publishes no ranking of its own mattresses, and we have not rated them either. What I can offer is five of our nine that step from firm to extra soft:
- Altar: Centennial, firm tight top, 13 in, ten-year non-prorated on its listing.
- Iven: core Beautyrest, firm pillow top, 14 in, 875 pocketed coils.
- Egan: core Beautyrest, medium pillow top, 14 in.
- Elan: core Beautyrest, soft pillow top, 15 in.
- Hermes: Centennial, extra soft super pillow top, about 16.5 in.
Lying on Altar and Hermes back to back shows what the Centennial pillow top adds in foam and height. Campbell River can say which of the five are set up before the drive, at (250) 286-0868.
Is Beautyrest better than Sealy?
On our pages the two brands now sit side by side, both at our Campbell River store and both quoted by phone. We list nine Beautyrest mattresses against three Sealy, and all three Sealy beds are Euro tops over wrapped coils.
Beautyrest offers pillow tops and a tight top over pocketed coils, and it goes taller, to 16.5 inches against 15.5 on the tallest Sealy. What Merit lists from Sealy sits in a guide of its own.
What goes under a Beautyrest mattress
The base under a Beautyrest mattress affects how it wears. Beautyrest's warranty page warns that "unevenness or sagging can occur when the frame or foundation you're using isn't supporting the mattress properly."
| Base | From the listing | Store |
|---|---|---|
| Traditional 9 in. foundation | Standard profile, twin XL and queen, 10-year warranty | Campbell River and Port Alberni |
| Traditional 5 in. low profile | Full size, 10-year warranty | Campbell River |
| Harmony Lux 9 in. foundation | Twin and twin XL, 10-year warranty | Campbell River |
| Harmony Lux 5 in. low profile | Twin XL and queen, 10-year warranty | Campbell River |
Each of the four foundation listings calls it a "box spring alternative," and each is priced by phone. Port Alberni carries only the Traditional 9 inch; Campbell River carries all four.
Setting a new Beautyrest on a sagging box spring invites the very sag that warning describes. Anyone who would rather raise the head or feet can compare the adjustable bed bases we list in a guide to power bases.
Common problems with Beautyrest mattresses
Body impressions. A pillow top settles where you sleep. Beautyrest Canada's warranty key treats an impression of 1-1/2" or less as normal on its 10-year code A. A few 20- and 25-year codes allow 3/4". The code is printed on the law label, so keep it attached.
Softening. In Beautyrest's words, "Softening of the mattress from regular use over time is not covered by the warranty." It suggests rotating the mattress "at least every 6 months" so both sides break in. Beautyrest Canada also says it invented the no flip mattress, so rotation is the care it asks for.
Height. A 16.5-inch Hermes or Lucor on a 9-inch foundation stands 25.5 inches before the bed frame adds its own. A 5-inch low profile foundation under the same mattress brings that to 21.5 inches.
Quotes by phone. Campbell River prices the nine Beautyrest mattresses and four foundations itself, so every quote takes a call.
The wrong fit. A sleeper who wants a deep, slow foam sink with no spring under it is starting in the wrong place with any coil bed.
Beautyrest warranty claims and who handles them
Beautyrest's limited warranty covers "Manufacturing defects such as sagging/depressions", foam that splits or cracks, and cover defects such as unravelled stitching. Its online claim form "should take about 10 minutes" and asks for photos of the issue.
Merit backs the maker's warranty, so a claim can start with a call to the store that sold the bed. For cover past the maker's term, we sell SmartOne, a 5 year plan from Zucora that a Beautyrest mattress qualifies for like anything else in the store.

Ordering a Beautyrest through our Campbell River store
All nine Beautyrest mattresses and all four foundations are carried at our Campbell River store, 1300 A Homewood Rd. The Traditional 9 inch foundation is also at our Port Alberni store, 2935 Third Ave, (250) 724-6644.
Each of those stores sets its own delivery terms, so the delivery price comes up in the same call as the mattress price.
